Balengou : 65 solar street light
Project Description:
We recently completed a major project involving the installation of 65 solar streetlights in the community of Balengou, located in West Cameroon. This project, initiated on May 15, 2024, and completed on July 20, 2024, aimed to provide sustainable and eco-friendly public lighting to enhance the safety and quality of life for residents.
Project Execution:
The project was carried out in several phases over a working period of 14 days. The first phase involved detailed planning, including a site study to identify strategic locations for each streetlight to maximize the illumination of key areas. Our team of renewable energy experts then proceeded with the installation of 6-meter tapered poles, solar panels, and high-efficiency LED lighting units.
The solar streetlights used in this project have the following characteristics:
We used 'all-in-two' models, where the light fixture, battery, and controller are combined, and the solar panel is separate. The installation involved the following steps:
Each streetlight is equipped with photovoltaic solar panels, an energy storage battery, and an intelligent controller to ensure optimal performance and longevity. The solar streetlights were chosen for their ability to operate autonomously without needing connection to the electrical grid, making them ideal for remote areas like Balengou.
Results:
The installation of these 65 solar streetlights has transformed the Balengou community, providing consistent and reliable lighting throughout the night. Residents can now move around safely, and commercial activities can continue after dark. This project aligns with our commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions and improving the quality of life in local communities.
We are proud to have successfully completed this project and to contribute to the development of local infrastructure while respecting the environment.
